A need of "help" command

Unread postby BinhPham » Tue Nov 07, 2017 1:33 pm

Dear Tom,

While RATS has an efficient ready mode / local edit mode, should we have a "help" command to point out the instruction syntax or help system.

For example: typing "help linreg" or "help matrix" will open the respective manual reference. It appears in most other software.

I wish this command will appear in the next major release since it helps users reducing time to search for RATS' stuff.

Best regards,

I'm not sure how that's an improvement over the Help menu. Does

help equation

mean that you want help with the EQUATION data type or with the EQUATION instruction? The experience I've had with UNIX man (which is the basis for most command line help systems) is that unless the command is really simple, you're much better off googling it up and looking at it through a browser (which how modern help systems work).

Note that the RATS help has contextual help (F1 key) for all dialogs and all window types.
