Writing Series in an Excel File with COPY

I am using

Code: Select all

open copy test.xls
copy(dates,format=xls,org=columns)
but it crashes RATS every time. If I do it with the Wizard ("Export to") from the View Series window it works fine.
Is anything with my instruction obviously wrong?

Is there any possibility that it can't write to test.xls on the current default directory? The wizard forces you to select a usable file.

Apparently not. I have tried different file names and locations but the problem persists.

I assume this is on the Mac? Leave the open copy off and see what happens when it prompts you file for the file name.

Yes, this is on a Mac with Yosemite. Leaving open copy out allowed me to write the file (even though it still crashes RATS on occasion).

Update on this. COPY crashes RATS every time now with or without OPEN COPY preceding it. I tried saving at different folders, with different names, different types of data (e.g. xls, xlsx, rat) ensuring that all locations are writable (i.e. no files with the same name open, etc.)

By the way, for anyone who may have experienced the same issues with COPY, DEDIT does the job wonderfully. Something like

Code: Select all

dedit(new) test.rat
store
save
