Dialog Box: Prize Fund Management

The "Prize Fund Management" dialog box is brought up by doing the Section>Add/Edit Prize Fund menu operation. This allows you to associate a (monetary) prize fund with a section and add and edit prizes for that. The prize fund that you define can be used in the Reports>Show Prize Distributions menu operation to compute the proper distribution of the prizes.

An example of a prize fund (which already has seven prizes defined) is shown below.

The large scrolling box on the left has the list of currently defined prizes. You can select one or more of these for use in the various operations defined by the buttons on the right.

Add Prize(s)...

This repeatedly pops up the Prize Edit Dialog to add prizes to the section. It will do this until you hit Cancel on the sub-dialog.

Move Up

Move Down

These move the selected prize(s) up or down relative to the unselected items. The order matters only in determining which prizes of identical value are considered to have priority. Place prizes should always be listed first.

Delete

Deletes the selected prizes from the list.

Import...

Imports a list of prizes from a spreadsheet or text file. You are given the option to either add to the existing list or completely replace the existing list.

Export...

Exports the current list of prizes to a spreadsheet or text file.

Prize Edit Dialog

Amount

This is the only required field. It's the amount of this prize.

Description

While not strictly required, this is helpful in identifying what prizes players are receiving when there is anything more than just place prizes.

Ratings Restricted?

Check this if the prize is in any way restricted to only certain sets of players by ratings (either by a range or by being unrated or possibly both). The items immediately below it are only activated when this is checked.

Ratings >= nnnn <mmmm

These are only active if you have Ratings Restricted? checked on. The >= text box (if filled in) gives the lower limit (inclusive) for the rating range. The < text box (if filled in) gives the upper limit (excluding the limit itself). A blank on the >= means there is only an upper limit so (as shown here), this is used to do an "Under" category, here Under 2400. A precise class range uses both: >= 2200 and <2400 would be available only to "master" ratings.

Allow Unrated?

This can be used together with the Ratings >= and < to indicate whether a prize is available to unrateds. For instance, a prize available to U1400 or unrated would have <1400 with the Allow Unrated box checked on.

Group Code Only

This makes eligible only those players whose "Gr" (prize group) field matches the string given in this box. For instance, if you have a top female prize, you might put "F" in the "Gr" field for the female players (and blank or something else for everyone else).

Special Code Only

This makes eligible only those players whose "Sp" (Special Code) field matches the string given in this box. This is an alternative to the Group Code Only if you are already using that for other purposes. You can also use the two together to define a combined category.

Note that you can combine the Group Code Only or Special Code Only with ratings restriction. A U2400 Female prize might, for instance, have <2400 and Group Code Only of F which would only be available to someone with both the rating in range and the F group code.
