Pairing System: Rule Sets

Home Page

← Previous Next →

WinTD divides the pairing methods up into two main "rule sets":

1.FIDE (2025)

2.USCF/General

The FIDE rule set (which is the only one which can be chosen if the tournament is in FIDE Mode) has a stricter set of requirements. The main choice there is the FIDE Dutch system for the Swiss System.

USCF/General includes a broader range of methods that can be applied to small tournaments or to larger tournaments with a much wider range of playing strengths. The principal difference between the FIDE and USCF methods is whether color predominates in determining pairings (FIDE) or is one of a several considerations (USCF) along with rating differences.
