Data Change Layout

Home Page

← Previous Next →

This dialog handles the View—Change Layout operation on a Series List Window. This is mainly designed for handling very large data files like OECD and Haver databases. You can choose many different filters and can combine them in any way that you would like. The only filters which are used will be the ones whose check boxes are turned on, so you can have information in one of the text fields, but can turn off that as a filter by clicking off the check box.

Note that filtering the view doesn't change the contents of the file; it just lets you isolate particular series which meet a set of criteria. If you want to create a file with the restricted set, do Edit—Select All and File—Export (or their equivalents on the toolbar or contextual menu).

Names which match

You can use ? (for single character), # (for a single digit) or * (for any set of of zero or more characters) wildcards for the matching function. By default, this is *, which means to match all. G* which match only names with start with G. M# would match only two character names starting with M.

Comments which include

This is just text that needs to be included in the comments (no wild cards). For instance, yield would include any series which has the word "yield" in the comments.

Frequency

If you select a specific frequency, only series with that frequency will be listed.

Start Year <=

You can restrict the list to series which have early starts. For instance, checking this filter and putting 1960 in the box will eliminate from the list any series which doesn't start until 1961 or later.

End Year >=

You can restrict the list to series which don't end early. For instance, checking this filter and putting 2014 in the box will eliminate from the list any series which end before 2014.

Sort Order

You can choose to sort the list by "None" (which is whatever was the original order), "Name", "Comment" and "Frequency".
