If you have downloaded the USCF Golden Database, you can automatically update the ratings and expiration dates on your Master Player Files or on a tournament file. Use the following steps:
- For a master file, just open the master player file that you wish to update. For a tournament file, open the tournament and display a players window.
- Choose the USCF-Update From Database menu item. The first time that you access the database after downloading or updating it, WinTD will take a bit of time to rebuild its indexes.
- (For the Master Player File), use the File-Save operation.
If you have more than one master file, close the first, and repeat the steps.
Notes
- WinTD searches for update information based upon the player's USCF ID. If the name on the master file does not seem to match the name on the supplement (the program tests the first two characters), you will get a warning and WinTD will give you the option to update or not. It may simply be that either you or the USCF has a typo in the name, but you may also have an incorrect ID. If the problem isn't obvious, click No and go back and figure out what's wrong.
- When you update a Players Window, you will be given the option of using Regular or Quick Chess ratings.
- In addition to ratings, this operation will also change state codes to match that on the USCF database, and expiration dates. However, if your records show an expiration date later than that on the database file, your expiration date will be retained.
