How To: Make a FIDE Rating Report |
With the proper data in place, WinTD can create generate most of the fields for a FIDE rating report. Note that all players need to have a FIDE ID before submission (and should all have a FIDE ID before participating) and the tournament needs to be registered in advance with FIDE.
Marking Games as FIDE Ratable
FIDE has fairly complicated rules for ratability of games under their "standard" rating system, where the amount of time each player must have depends upon the ratings of the players involved. If a section has games played at different time controls (see How To: Run Tournaments with Multiple Schedules), it's possible for some games to be FIDE ratable and some not. If you have a tournament with a combination of ratable and non-ratable games, WinTD can still be used to produce the proper FIDE rating report—it will insert a "bye" for the appropriate score to replace any game which isn't ratable.
Each game within WinTD has a tag indicating whether it is FIDE ratable. The simplest way to make sure these are handled correctly is to set the FIDE Ratable tag correctly in the Add/Edit a Section dialog box when you first create the section. When a round is paired (or you do a manual pairing) when this is checked on, the games will be flagged as ratable; if it is checked off, the games will be flagged as not ratable. For instance, if you have a three-day schedule all rounds of which are ratable, and a two-day schedule where the first two rounds are played at a pace too fast for ratability, create the three-day with FIDE ratable on, and the two-day with FIDE ratable off.
If this wasn't done properly at the start, you will end up with games having the wrong ratability flag. However, you can fix this at the game level. For instance, if you have a fully ratable tournament, but failed to put the FIDE Ratable tag on, select the section in the Sections Window, then do Section>List Players. Select all the players, then do Players>List Games. This will give you a list of all the games in the section. Select all the games, and then do FIDE>Mark as FIDE Ratable.
If you make a mistake with the FIDE Ratable setting on one schedule out of a multiple schedule section, you would have to fix them on a game by game basis. This will be easiest if (as would be typical) you use different sets of board numbers for the different schedules, as the games in each will be easily identifiable. Follow the steps in the previous up to marking the games, then just select the games that need to be fixed and use FIDE>Mark as FIDE Ratable or FIDE>Mark as not FIDE Ratable, whichever is appropriate.
Once you're ready, do FIDE⎯Make FIDE Report. This will pop up a "FIDE Tournament Export" dialog as shown below:

Each selected section will generate a separate file.
Section Name
This will be initialized with the name of the section. You can edit it to include a more descriptive name of the tournament and section.
End Date
Begin Date
Use the spin buttons to set the ending and starting dates. (Change the End Date first—the Begin Date will move with it, so it will usually only be a few days to adjust the Begin Date).
City
Location of the tournament.
Federation
Sponsoring FIDE federation for tournament.
Section Type
Description such as Individual Swiss, Round Robin, Team Swiss, etc.
Chief Arbiter
Deputy Chief
Show the arbiters.
Time Control
Enter the time control. If you included the Time Control in the Add/Edit a Section dialog, that will be copied here.
Generate/Edit Text File
When you OK the dialog, WinTD will generate the required file. You will be prompted for the name; these needs to be different for each section that you rate. Note that this is a fixed-records text file—the player data, in particular, has to be in very specific columns, so if do any editing, be very careful not to change that. The only thing that might need changing are the round dates. If some days have fewer rounds than others, WinTD makes a guess that the starting and ending dates have fewer rounds.
