Compiling twice to read data in MacRats

Compiling twice to read data in MacRats

I need to run this twice in MacRats to populate the series with daily observations. Why?
OPEN DATA "/Users/[...].xls"
DATA(FORMAT=XLS,ORG=COLUMNS) 2001:01:01 2014:12:31 series1 series2 series3
CALENDAR(D) 2001:1:1

The CALENDAR needs to go first or it can't properly interpret the year:month:day as entry numbers.
