Can i change shadow color from gray to another (e.g yellow) or it reserved only for gray?

The GRID and SHADING options to GRPARM were added with 9.2.

Is there any way for do it by earlier version of RATS?. However i created a shade.txt file and used the following but, i couldn't get what i want.
open styles shade.txt
grparm(import=styles)
