Panel calculation for subsets

Dear Tom, I do created a Panel for 5 countries which starts in 1973:03 in monthly data. Some countries have no observations before 1988:01. Therfore I do wanted to calculate fractiles only for the time span 1988:01 - 2012:12 where all countries have full observation set.
But using: stats(fractiles) TU12tay 1//1988:01 5//2012:12

also includes the observations before 1988 for the countries two to five. How can I use the stats instruction really for a time subset over all countries?

Use

stats(fractiles,smpl=%period(t)>=1988:1) ...
