hi. Is it possible to (1) make a regression line thicker in a scatter plot and (2) get rid of the vertical line at zero in a scatterplot?

You would have to draw it yourself using the OVERLAY=LINES option and a separate pair of "x-y" series which will draw the line. The LINES option does "hairlines", which can't be redefined as they're used for other purposes (tick marks in particular).

(2) get rid of the vertical line at zero in a scatterplot?

AXIS=NONE or AXIS=HORIZONTAL will eliminate the vertical axis.
