WinTD
WinTD

WinTD uses two different types of windows for displaying information generated by the commands found on the Reports menu.

Report Windows

The Show commands on the Reports menu display information (prize lists, team standings, and upset prize lists) in what we call "Report" windows. These are similar to spreadsheet-type windows, in that each piece of information is displayed in its own cell.

You can print the contents of a report window by doing Reports>Print Window or Reports>Print Report Windows. You can also select blocks of rows and columns and use Edit>Copy to copy and paste the information into text-editors, word-processors, or spreadsheet programs. If you paste into a spreadsheet, the cell structure is retained, so that each piece of information goes into its own cell.

Note that the information in a Report window is never updated once the window has been generated. For example, if you do a prize list and then later correct some game results, you must do Reports>Show Prize List again to get a new, updated prize list.

Text Windows

If you turn on the Output to Window "switch" on the Reports menu, output generated by Reports>Print xxx commands (such as Reports>Print Wall Chart) will be redirected to a text window (WinTD will open the text window automatically) rather than the printer. You can edit the contents of the window using the keyboard and the Edit menu operations, just as you would in any ordinary text editor. You can also save the information using File>Save As... If you want to print the contents of the text window, just do Reports>Print Window (when a text window is active, this always directs output to the printer, regardless of the Output to Window setting).

You can redirect information from a Report Window to a Text Window if you want—just do the desired Show operation, turn on the Output to Window switch, and do Reports>Print Window (or Reports>Print Report Windows to send output from all open Report windows to the text window, rather than just the active window).

Double Clicking

Double-clicking has no effect in Report or Text windows.

Menu Operations

The only special operations that apply directly to Report Windows are Reports>Print Window (which prints only the active Report Window), and Reports>Print Report Windows (which prints all open Report Windows).

Drag and Drop

Drag-and-drop is not enabled in Report or text windows.

Keystrokes

No special keystrokes are available.

Toolbar Icons (Report Window)

Prints the contents of the active Report window. This is equivalent to the Reports>Print Window operation.

Selects all the cells in the window. Equivalent to Edit>Select All

Copies the selected cells to the clipboard. Equivalent to Edit>Copy.

Exports the selected cells to a file. Equivalent to File>Export

Export

You can use the File>Export operation to export information from Report windows and text windows in comma- or tab-delimited text, XLS, XLSX, WKS, or HTML formats.

Cut/Copy/Paste/Clear

For Report windows, the Edit>Copy operation copies the selected information to the system in both text and spreadsheet (WKS and DIF) formats. By default, doing Paste in a word-processor or similar application will paste the information in text format, while the same operation in a spreadsheet program will paste the information in spreadsheet format—most applications also offer a Paste Special operation that allows you to choose the format. You cannot paste information from a Report into any WinTD window.

For text windows, the Cut, Copy, Paste, and Clear operations are all enabled, and can be used to copy, delete, or move text within the WinTD text window, or for copying text to another application.
