For many years, RATS has shipped with a stand-alone utility program called RATSData, which allowed you to work with RATS format data files using a menu, window, dialog-box driven interface. RATSData provided an easy way to import and export data, view, edit, or create data series, and graph your data. However, most of the functionality of RATSData has now been incorporated directly into RATS itself.

You access these capabilities by opening an existing RATS format file using the Open operation on the File menu, or by creating a new RATS format file using the File—New: RATSData Window operation.

Open

When you do File—Open and open a RATS format data file, RATS will display the contents of the file in a Series List Window. You can view, graph, or edit data using toolbar icons and View menu operations, export data using File—Export..., or read data into memory using the RATS format Data Wizard or by dragging-and-dropping series onto the Series Window.

New RATSData

When you select File—New:RATSData Window, RATS displays an empty Series List Window. You can create new series in the file using the  or the Create Series operation on the Data/Graphics menu. You can also copy series from memory to the file by dragging-and-dropping them from the Series Window onto the RATS file window. When you close the window, RATS will prompt you to save the file by providing a location and file name.

Series List Window

When you have opened or created a RATS data file, RATS will display a Series List Window displaying the series in the file (if any). From this window, you can view and edit the content of series, generate graphs, and more. You can also use the Edit menu operations to delete (cut) series from a file. If you have two RATS format files open, you can copy-and-paste or cut-and-paste series from one file into another.
