RATS 10.1
RATS 10.1

The Window menu provides several operations for working with RATS Windows:

Tile Horizontal

Tile Vertical

These operations size and position the open windows so they are all visible on the screen, with no overlap. Where possible, Tile Horizontal uses a horizontal, or landscape, orientation, so the resulting windows are wider than they are tall. Tile Vertical uses a vertical, or portrait, orientation, so the windows will be taller than they are wide.

Cascade

Stacks the open windows so the tops of all the windows are visible.

Close All

Closes all open windows. If necessary, RATS will ask if you want to save changes.

Keep Open on Close All

Flags the active (top) window so that it will remain open even if you do Close All.

Close All Graphs

Closes all open graph windows.

Close All Reports

Closes all open report windows.

Use for Input

Designates the active window as the input window.

Use for Output

Designates the active window as the output window.

Create New View

Creates a second window which will mirror the current edit window—any changes made to one will also display in the other. This allows you to look at two (or more) areas in the same file.

Create Scratch Window

Creates a new text window you can use for quick calculations or to test instructions without affecting the contents of the main input and output window(s). Output from any instruction executed in a scratch window is always directed only to the scratch window. The status and content of existing input/output windows are not affected. However, any changes to values of variables, matrices, or series will affect those in the main workspace. You can open more than one scratch window at a time.

Paste AND Execute

This is a "switch" item, which is on by default, as indicated by a check mark next to the menu item. When this is switch is on, clicking OK in a Wizard dialog box automatically executes the instruction(s) generated by the Wizard. If you would prefer that the Wizard only insert the instruction(s) without executing it (them), select Paste AND Execute to turn off this setting.

Note: If RATS is in Local mode, instructions generated by Wizards will not be executed, regardless of the Paste AND Execute setting. Thus you may find it easier to simply switch to Local mode if you don't want instructions to be executed, rather than changing the Paste AND Execute setting.

Report Windows

This displays a list of the recent "report" windows. Selecting one of these will display the selected report in a new window. You can use this to re-display the formatted output from instructions like REPORT, LINREG, TABLE, and many others. From the Report Window, you can copy and paste information to other applications or export the contents to a file.

Window List

RATS displays the names of all currently open windows at the bottom of the Window menu. You can switch to a window by selecting it from this list.
