FIDE Database |
The FIDE database can be downloaded from the FIDE web site (through WinTD). The data are updated at least once a month and can be revised several times during a month. The working file created by WinTD is called fidelist.dbf.
WinTD uses the database in two ways:
1.You can look up players' ratings when adding them to a tournament or master player file. Just use the FIDE Database tab in the Add/Edit a Player Dialog.
2.You can automatically update the ratings on a master player file or on a tournament file for any players for whom you have FIDE ID's. See How To: Update Players' FIDE Chess Ratings.
Before you can use the rating database with WinTD, you need to tell the program where to find the information. Do this with the FIDE⎯FIDE Data Directory... operation. This pops up a dialog box asking you to specify the directory containing the FIDE data files.
You can download the current FIDE data using the FIDE⎯Download FIDE Database... operation.
The FIDE data includes the following information for each player:
1.ID (a numeric value of 7 to 9 digits)
2.Name
3.Federation (3 letter abbreviation)
4.Birth year
5.Highest title. For these purposes, IM is considered higher than WGM.
6.Regular rating
7.Rapid rating
8.Blitz rating
