How To: Pair Players Manually |
You may occasionally wish to pair two players manually. For instance, you may want to handle a bye by a cross-round pairing, or you might want to force teammates to play on top board, when they wouldn't ordinarily be paired. Here's the way to do it:
1.Go to the Sections Window.
2.Select a section. You cannot do pairings which include players from separate sections—see How To: Pair Across Sections if you need to do that.
3.Choose Section>Enter Manual Pairing.... This brings up the Manual Pairing dialog box.
4.Select the player for White from the left column and the player for Black from the right column. If necessary, change the board and/or round numbers. The round numbers don't have to match, so no tricks are needed for cross round pairings.
5.If you want WinTD to assign the colors, just choose either player as White, the other as Black, get the round numbers correct in each column and then click on the "Assign Colors" button in the dialog box.
6.Click on OK to set up the pairing. If either of the players has already been paired for that round, WinTD will ask whether or not you want to delete the previous pairing. Clicking on OK will replace the previous pairing. Clicking on cancel will cancel the manual pairing operation. If you have a Games Window open, the window will be updated to reflect the new pairings.
7.Repeat 2 through 6 if you need to enter additional pairings.
If you need to correct pairings on a board after you have already paired a round, you can use this procedure, but it is probably easier to fix it through the Games Window. See How To: Correct Pairings.
