How To: Run a Round Robin Tournament |
While primarily designed for running Swiss System tournaments, WinTD can also be used to run Round Robin tournaments. The basic steps are described below. See Pairing System: Round Robin for details.
1.To use a Round Robin pairing scheme for a tournament section, you need to choose "Round Robin" in the Pair As box in the Pairing Rules tab of the Add/Edit a Section dialog box. WinTD will not let you switch from a Swiss System pairing to Round Robin after pairing a round, so you should be sure to select the Round Robin setting when you create the section.
2.Once you've selected the Round Robin pairing method, just follow the usual steps for running a tournament. See the Getting Started: A Worked Example for further help. Because pairings in a round robin follow a schedule, and don't depend upon early round results, you are given the option in the Pair a Round dialog box to Pair All Remaining Rounds.
Notes
•Ordinarily, WinTD randomly assigns pairing numbers to players in a round robin. If you want to assign the pairing numbers yourself, use the Section>Manual Pairing Numbers operation. You can do this any time before round one has been paired.
