The Reports menu includes all the commands for producing printed output, such as pairing sheets, wall charts, and prize lists. Other operations allow you to change printer settings or print the contents of any window.
Printer Setup...
Brings up a standard Windows printer setup dialog box. Allows you to select a printer and set various printer options.
Print Font...
This brings up a standard font-selection dialog box that allows you to select typeface, style, and type size to be used for printed output. WinTD will try to honor the requested font size, but it will automatically scale down to a smaller size as needed to fit the information on a page given the current paper width. If you want WinTD to use the largest possible font size at all times, just select a very large size (like 48 or 72 points). The program will keep scaling down the font size as needed (e.g., as additional rounds are added to wall charts).
Note that if you have the "Portrait Mode Only" preference setting turned on, WinTD will never switch to landscape mode when printing wall charts, and will thus have to use smaller font sizes than it can when allowed to switch to landscape mode.
Output to Window
This is a "switch" that causes printed output to be redirected to a text window. If you turn this on, the next printing operation will send output to a new text window, rather than to the printer. All subsequent "printed" output will be added to the window. You can edit the information in the text window as needed, and even save information to a text file. To switch output back to the printer, either select this menu operation again, or just close the output window.
Print Window
Prints the contents of the active window. Can be used for printing a pairing sheet for the active Games Window (see How to Print a Pairing Sheet), player lists (tournament or master player file), team lists, and the contents of Report Windows. This operation is equivalent to clicking on the "Print" toolbar icon.
Print Report Windows
Prints the contents of all currently open Report Windows (i.e. windows that have been created using the Show operations described below).
Print Game Windows
This prints pairing sheets for all open Game Windows (see How to Print a Pairing Sheet for details).
Prints a wall chart or cross-table listing all players in the selected section(s). If you have more than one section selected, this prints a separate chart for each section. You can select the format and sort order in the Wall Chart Dialog Box which this operation pops up.
Prints a cross-table listing all players in the selected section(s). If you have more than one section selected, this prints a separate chart for each section. This is intended as a quick operation to get a standard cross-table. If you want more flexibility use Print Wall Chart (Detailed).
Generates prize lists (for non-monetary prizes) and displays them in new Report Window. (See How To: Compute Prize Distributions if you have monetary prizes). When you select this operation, WinTD will display the Print Prize Lists Dialog Box, which allows you to set the number of prizes awarded and other options. To print a prize list, make the prize list window active and do Print Window. To print all prize lists (along with all other open report windows), just do Print Report Windows.
Displays a team standings chart in a new Report Window for the teams in the selected section(s). If you have more than one section selected, WinTD displays charts for each team in a separate window. Note that this operation is used to display team standings for combined individual/team tournaments (where players are paired as individuals, rather than as members of a team). Use Show Prize Lists to display team standings for true team tournaments.
Show Upset Prizes
This generates a special prize list for upsets and displays it in a new Report Window. WinTD will display the Upset Prizes dialog box which allows you to specify the prizes to be awarded.
Computes and displays in a Report Window the distribution of monetary prizes. Use Show Prize Lists for non-monetary prizes.
Prints blank "wall charts" for each team represented in the Players Window. If the Players Window covers more than one section, the entries for different sections are separated.
Print Team Results Sheets
In a team vs team tournament, you can use this operation after pairing a round to generate sheets that the teams can use to submit match results to the TD. WinTD produces a separate sheet for each match in the selected section(s). The sheets identify the tournament, round, board, and section information, as well as the names of the two teams in the match. Space is provided for filling in player names, indicating game results, total points for each team, and for signatures of team captains.
Export to Web...
This provides a convenient way to export data to an HTML file suitable for posting on a web site. See Creating Reports in HTML Format for details.
This requires quite a bit of preliminary setup work, but if you have Internet access at your tournament site, you can send individual pairings by text message or e-mail to the players or coaches.
