WinTD
WinTD

For certain types of windows, WinTD allows you to move or copy items by "dragging" them from one window and "dropping" them onto another window, or from one part of a window to another part of the same window. Below, we describe the mechanics of using the mouse to drag and drop items, and then describe the situations where drag-and-drop is supported in WinTD.

How to Drag and Drop

1.If you are dragging and dropping from one window to another (as opposed to swapping players in a Games window), you first need to arrange the source window (the window from which you will select and drag items) and the target window (the window into which you will "drop" the items) so you can see both windows on the screen (you might want to use the Tile operations on the Windows menu for this).

2.Select items from the source window using the usual selection techniques.

3.Put the mouse cursor on the selected block, and press and hold the mouse button.

4.Drag the mouse pointer to the target window. A small "document" icon will appear under the mouse pointer, indicating that you are pointing at a window which will accept the selected items.

5.Release the mouse button. The selected items will be moved or copied (depending on the context) to the target window.

What, Where, and When Can You Drag and Drop?

You cannot:

Drag items from Sections Windows

Drag items between Games Windows.

You can:

Enter players into a tournament section by dragging players from a Master Player Window and dropping them on a section in a Sections Window, or dropping them on a tournament Players Window. For the latter to work, the Players Window must be displaying only a single section. You can also drag a player out of a Players Window for an old tournament and drop him into a new tournament.

Copy players from one master player file to another by dragging-and-dropping players from one Master Player Window to another.

Switch pairings by dragging names within a Games Window. You can use this to manually interchange players, or as a quick way to swap colors within game (just drag the player on white to the black column and the two players will swap colors). This is an alternative to using Games>Correct the Colors and Games>Correct the Players. See How To: Correct Pairings.

Move a player from one tournament section to another by opening a Players Window for one or both sections, and dragging-and-dropping players from one Players Window to the other Players Window or to a different section in the Section Window.

Copy players from a tournament file to a master player file by dragging-and-dropping players from a tournament Players Window to a Master Player Window.

Copy teams from one Team Window to another.
