How To: Print Wall Charts and Cross Tables

Home Page

← Previous Next →

A wall chart is a detailed list of information, which requires three lines per player. In general, it will list the player's ID, one or both ratings, team ID, prize group, and, for each game, the color, opponent and cumulative score. A cross table is a more compressed listing (one line per player). Wall charts are usually sorted by rating, but alphabetical sorts are often posted prior to the tournament. Cross tables are most often sorted by score or standings.

WinTD provides two operations which will print these reports. The simpler one is Reports>Print X-Table, which does a simple cross table in the most typical form: sorted by score, then by rating. Reports>Print Wall Chart allows you to print either a wall chart or cross table, with options for sorting procedure and number of rounds.

1.In the Sections Window, select the section(s) for which you want to print charts.

2.Choose Reports>Print X-Table (for a simple cross table) or Reports>Print Wall Chart (for either type). Reports>Print Wall Chart will bring up the Wall Chart dialog box, which lets you set the format (detailed or compressed), sort order and the number of rounds to show.

If you want to display a wall chart or cross table on the screen, you can either:

a.Turn on the Reports>Output to Window switch then do Reports>Print Wall Chart or Reports>Print X-Table. This will direct the table to a text window.

b.Display a Players Window and use the Edit>Change Layout operation to choose the wall chart or cross table style.

Notes

If you have more than one section selected, WinTD will print a separate chart or table for each section.

The charts will include whatever round information is available at the time. For instance, if you print a wall chart after pairing Round 3, but before putting in any results, it will give scores through Round 2, plus the Round 3 pairings.

You can use the Charts Tab on the Preferences dialog to tailor the format of the charts to the needs of your tournament.
