Getting Started / Getting Started: The WinTD Menus / FIDE Menu |
These are operations which are specific to FIDE-rated tournaments.
FIDE Data Directory...
Specifies the directory where your FIDE database files are located. WinTD will look for the FIDE data files in this directory whenever you use any operation which requires them. This can be the same as the US Chess Data Directory, or you can keep them separate.
Download FIDE Database...
Downloads the current FIDE database from FIDE's web site and reformats it into a more easily usable form.
Update from Database
For the players in a Player or Master Player window, this checks the FIDE database and, for any player with a FIDE ID in the WinTD records, updates the player's ratings and title.
For each selected section, generates a (text-based) FIDE rating report.
Determines possible eligibility for FIDE norms, displaying information in a Report Window.
Show FIDE Ratable/Show All
Mark as FIDE Ratable
Mark as Not FIDE Ratable
These are applied to a Games Window. The "FIDE Ratable" tag is used to distinguish between games which are FIDE ratable as a result of tournament conditions and time controls, and those which are not. Games which do not enter into a report because a player is unrated will be handled at the time a FIDE report is generated. Any game paired while a section is marked as FIDE Ratable (see Add/Edit a Section dialog box) will be tagged as ratable; any game paired while the FIDE ratable tag is off will be marked as not FIDE ratable. These three functions can be used to correct any errors in that assignment. Show FIDE Ratable will filter the games to show only those with the tag on. (Use Show All to return to the full list). The other two will change the tags of the selected games as the operation title describes.
Import FIDE Text
This imports a single section in FIDE's TRF (Tournament Report Format) text format.
This generates random tournaments. It's for WinTD development/testing. It pops up the FIDE Random Tournament Generation dialog box which allows control over the number of tournaments generated, their sizes and names.
This is for WinTD development. It checks the pairings (for all rounds) of the currently selected section for adherence to the FIDE Dutch Rules.
Note that if this is a file from an actual tournament (rather than being randomly generated), it is quite possible that it will not conform because of corrections made during the tournament. For instance, if round 3 is paired with an incorrect score reported in round 2, a tournament with the correct score will give different pairings (often quite different pairings) for at least two score groups in round 3.
