Getting Started: The WinTD Menus |
This page provides an overview of the WinTD menus. To see a list of the operations on a particular menu, just click on the name of the menu. If you are new to WinTD, we recommend that you look over this page and then continue with Setting Up Players and Teams.

Use this menu for most functions which apply to the tournament as a whole, such as creating or saving tournament files. Note that all printing-related functions are found on the Reports menu. |

Standard Edit menu operations such as Undo, Redo, Cut, Copy, and Paste. Also includes the Change Layout... operation which allows you to control how information is displayed in Players, Team, and Master Player windows. |

The Reports menu contains all of the functions related to producing printed output, such as pairing sheets, wall charts, and cross tables, as well as operations for displaying and printing prize lists and standings. |

The Section menu handles most of the functions which apply to sections of a tournament, such as creating tournament sections, pairing rounds, etc. Most of these operations are only available when a Sections Window is active. |

The Players menu handles most of the functions which apply to individual players in the tournament. It also manages the lists of players. Most operations are only available when a Players Window is active. |

The Games menu handles the functions which apply to individual games, such as entering scores, correcting colors, etc. These operations require that a Games Window be active. |

The US Chess menu handles operations which either get or receive information from the US Chess web site. |

The FIDE menu handles operations which are specific to running FIDE rated tournaments. |

The functions on the Master(Player) menu create and maintain master lists of players. Most operations require that a Master Player Window be active. |

The functions on the Master(Team) menu create and maintain master lists of team. Most operations require that a Team Window be active. |

The Data menu handles several operations with auxiliary data files. |

Note that you often need to select one or more items from the appropriate type of window before you can do certain operations. For example, to assign a bye to a particular player, you select a player (or players) from a tournament Players Window and then do Players>Assign Byes.
