The following operations are available from the Players menu.

Except for Add a Player..., these operations are only available when a tournament Players Window is active. You can open a Players Window by selecting one or more sections of a tournament in the Sections Window and doing either Section>List Players or Section>List Players-Combined Sections. Note that you must select one or more players from the Players Window before you can do most of these operations.

Add a Player...

This pops up the Add/Edit A Player dialog box, which allows you to add players to a tournament. Note: this is only used for adding players directly to a tournament file. To add a player to a master player list, use Master(Player)>Add a Player.

List Games

Opens a Games Window listing all of the games played by the selected player(s). The games are sorted by round.

List Team Members

Produces a list of the members of the selected team(s). See Team Tournaments for details.

Check In

The Check In and Check Out operations allow you to keep track of players checking into or out of a tournament. Check In (or clicking on the toolbar icon) flags the selected players as being "checked in" or active. See Checking Players In and Out for hints on the use of this.

Check Out

Checks player(s) out of a tournament. You can also do this by clicking on the toolbar icon.

Assign Byes...

This brings up the Assign Byes dialog box, which allows you to assign byes to each selected player. You can assign full-point, half-point, or zero-point byes for any unplayed round. If you have selected more than one player in the Players Window, WinTD will pop up a separate dialog box for each player.

Re-Enter Tournament...

Creates a new entry for the selected players in another section, and withdraws them from their old section. When you select this operation, a dialog box pops up (for each player) with a list of sections from which to choose. See How To: Re-Enter Players for step-by-step instructions.

Cross Section Entry...

Creates a new temporary entry for the selected player in another section, typically used when you have byes in multiple sections. See How To: Do a Cross Section Pairing for step-by-step instructions.

Choose Active Entry...

This is similar to Players>Re-Enter Tournament..., but is done when a player has been able to compete in two schedules without withdrawing from either prior to the merge, so you have to choose which of the two will remain active. Before doing Players>Choose Active Entry, select the entry which will become inactive. This will pop up the Choose Active Entry dialog. See How To: Re-Enter Players.

Clean Up Forfeits

For the selected players in the Players Window, this takes any forfeit games and severs the relationship to the assigned opponent, that is, instead of the game being X135 (forfeit win over player 135), it will become just X (forfeit win). We generally recommend that you do this only at the end of the tournament, as it eliminates the original information about the pairings that resulted in forfeits. Clean Up Forfeits is useful if you want to drop from the tournament any players who never played a game. So long as a player has a game record showing an opponent, you can't delete him or her.

Change Standing...

This allows you to manually set the current standing for a player in the tournament (perhaps because placement was decided by a blitz game or coin flip). Just select a single player from a Players Window and do Change Standing.... The Change Standings dialog will allow you to enter the standing you want to give the player (1 for first, 2 for second, etc.). The program will shift other players up or down as needed.

Coordinate with Master File

This uses the current Player Window and the current Master Player Window. All players who are already included in the master file are filtered out, leaving only players who either aren't in the master, or whose information is sufficiently different on the tournament and master files that some correction needs to be made. This is very useful in maintaining master files. You can drag and drop the new players into the master file, and spot problem records quickly.

Update from Master File

This uses the players in the current Player Window (all of them), and the current Master Player window. If the player has a record on the master file, the ratings in the tournament file are replaced by those in the master. And if the master file shows an ID, while the tournament file doesn't, the ID and expiration are copied over off the master. This allows you to start to put entries into a tournament file before, for instance, a master file has been fully updated with the results from previous tournaments.
