How To: Pair a Round |
Before doing pairings, you must first create the tournament, add sections to it, and add the players to the tournament section(s) (see Setting Up and Running a Tournament). Once you've done that, do the following:
1.Go to the Sections window.
2.Select the section(s) you want to pair from the window.
3.Choose the Section>Pair a Round operation.
4.For each selected section, WinTD displays the Pair a Round dialog box which prompts you for the round number (among other things). Check that the round number is correct and click on OK to pair the round.
For Round Robin or Scheveningen sections, you will have an option of pairing all remaining rounds. This is possible because those are based upon a schedule fixed when the pairings are first done, and not upon results.
Use Section>List Games-Current Round operation (or the
toolbar icon) to view the pairings. This will display a separate Games window for each section.
To print out a pairing sheet, use either Reports>Print Window or Reports>Print Games Windows. Reports>Print Window prints a pairing sheet for the active Games window, while Reports>Print Games Windows prints pairing sheets for all open Games windows (How To: Print a Pairing Sheet).
Any player who is checked out or withdrawn from the tournament (Check Players In and Out), has been assigned a bye for this round (Assign Byes), or has already been paired for this round will be skipped in the pairing process. See Pairing System for technical details on the process used by WinTD to pair players.
If there are any games in the section from earlier rounds that still have no results entered, WinTD will display the Adjourned Games dialog box, which allows you to assign scores (for pairing purposes only) to the two players.
